Biography

Carly earned her BA and MA in Literature at the University of New Mexico before continuing her studies in the PhD American Literature program. Primarily interested in the ecological thought, Carly’s research takes an ecocritical approach to formally active 20th-century US poetry and poetics. Carly emphasizes New Wave science fiction as a fecund ground for ecocritical work through her research on poets and novelists such as Sun Ra, William S. Burroughs, Edward Dorn, and Ursula K. Le Guin.
