For Partner Organizations
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in the University of New Mexico's Department of English Professional Writing Internship Program.
Every year, between 40 and 60 Professional Writing seniors and juniors work with organizations throughout Albuquerque and central New Mexico. Students have worked with organizations such as
- Local iQ
- University of New Mexico Hospitals
- Santa Fe Institute
- Albuquerque the Magazine
- National Hispanic Cultural Center
- Sandia National Laboratories
...and many more.
Our students come to the workplace prepared with many strong writing and design skills developed in our Professional Writing concentration curriculum. many students have taken courses on Editing, Grant Writing, Documentation, Writing for Online Contexts, Visual Rhetoric, and Publishing. Many students take advantage of offerings in rhetoric and rhetorical analysis, giving them well-honed expertise at assessing and writing for particular audiences. Many courses include community-engaged components as well that find students using classroom assignments as opportunities to work with local organizations on a large writing project.
If you are interested in discussing the internship program, would like more information about the Professional Writing concentration, or would like to discuss becoming involved with our community-engaged projects, please contact Dr. Joseph Bartolotta at firstname.lastname@example.org.
