She completed an honors thesis focusing on the lais of Marie de France, highlighting female agency within the origins of courtly love. She also completed her MA at UNM, focusing on old Celtic and Irish narrative.
Averie’s interests span many types of literature and time periods, but her degree will focus on the Middle Ages in the global North Atlantic, influenced by studies abroad in Ireland. She also takes an interest in feminist literature and analysis.
In her teaching, Averie hopes to foster an appreciation for diverse perspectives as a tool in promoting empathy inside and outside the classroom.
