Students who have completed an apprenticeship for teaching courses should indicate the semester in which that apprenticeship occurred, as well as the faculty member who oversaw that student's apprenticeship.

Several courses require that students have completed their PhD-level comprehensive examinations in order to be considered eligible to teach. Please indicate if you have done so (Yes or No). This is a required field.

Finally, if you have any additional qualifications of which you would like to make the administration aware, please list them in the Additional Qualifications box.

Course Proposals

TAs requesting to teach English 150, 220, 240, 248, 250, 292, 293, 294, 295, 296 and 297 must provide a brief description of the proposed course, as well as a short statement concerning the learning objectives of the course and how the course will address these needs. TAs requesting to teach English 220 must also provide three example lessons or exercises for the course they are proposing. These lessons should be included in a single file (in .pdf, .docx, or .doc format) and uploaded useing the "Choose File" button in the File Attachment section.

Student Schedule

Taking Courses 1-4

TAs are students, too! Please indicate which courses you intend to take in the coming semester. Include the day and time of class meetings (e.g. MWF 10:00am) and credit hours (e.g. 3) for each course. The English department will do everything it can to find a teaching schedule that works with your studies.

Please note that most TAs will receive a MWF teaching schedule. TR schedules are often in high demand, and preference will be given to students whose courses require a TR schedule, followed by those who are not currently teaching on a TR rotation. When available, courses taught will be scheduled back-to-back.

Additional Information

Please include any other information regarding your schedule that the administration should know (GA appointments, official UNM meeting responsibilities, etc.). Although the department will make an effort to take such information into account, priority will be given to the course scheduling needs of all other TAs first.
