Biography

Kennia Lopez is a Latina woman from Kansas City, Missouri. She recieved an M.A. in English from Northwest Missouri State University, an MFA in Poetry from Brooklyn College, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Rhetoric and Writing and the University of New Mex. Her debut book of poetry, The Exodus, explores the migration of peoples and languages in epic form and will be published by Tolsun Books in June of 2022. 

Kennia plans to focus her research on multilingual language learners, non-standard English usage in the first year classroom, agency and identity. She is interested in the nexuses between composition, trauma, social justice, and poetry.
