Biography

Athena Gordon received her BA in English (nonfiction writing emphasis) and Sociology from Pacific Lutheran University, and Master of Education in Reading and Literacy from Eastern New Mexico University. She participated in the Teach for America New Mexico 2018 corps and taught English Language Arts in charter schools in Albuquerque for several years.

Currently, Athena is pursuing a PhD in English (focus in Rhetoric and Writing), while working in academic advisement at the University of New Mexico. Her research explores how Technical and Professional Communication theories and practices can inform administrative work in higher education, with particular attention to the integration of ethical frameworks in institutional communication, decision-making, and practice.
