BiographyHelen Damico has been teaching courses in Old and Middle English at UNM since 1981. She completed her Ph.D. at New York University in 1980. Damico is Editor and co-editor of Medieval Scholarship: Biographical Studies on the Formation of a Discipline (3 vols); Heroic Poetry in the Anglo-Saxon Period; and New Readings on Women in Old English Literature, and author of Beowulf's Wealhtheow and the Valkyrie Tradition and numerous articles on Old English and Old Norse literature. She was inducted as a Fellow of the Medieval Academy of America in 2015. She is also the founder of UNM's Institute for Medieval Studies. | |
