Biography

Deborah Fillerup Weagel is term teaching faculty in the English Department at the University of New Mexico. She holds degrees in English (PhD), French (MA), Music Theory and Composition (MMu), and Art and Design (BA). With her multidisciplinary background, she has taught writing and literature classes in both interdisciplinary and traditional programs. She is co-editor, with Feroza Jussawalla, of Emerging South Asian Women Writers: Essays and Interviews (2016). She is also the author of Words and Music: Camus, Beckett, Cage, Gould (2010), Women and Contemporary World Literature: Power, Fragmentation, and Metaphor (2009), and Interconnections: Essays on Music, Art, Literature, and Gender (2004). Her articles have appeared in a variety of scholarly journals, and she has presented her work at academic conferences internationally, most recently in Mulhouse, France (2019).
