Biography

My academic research focuses on American literary studies of the long 19^th century. Additional areas of specialization include early American literature, literary theory, comics studies, critical ethnography (child welfare, mental health, and addiction), and poetry and poetics. My dissertation focuses on the aesthetics of environment and the literature and cultural politics of addiction in the Progressive era.
