Irish Studies Program Hosted Fall Lecture

The English Department and the Irish Studies program hosted a fall Irish Studies lecture, delivered by Dr. James Moran, Professor of Modern Drama at the University of Nottingham. Titled, “Race on the Black and Irish Stage: Tracing the Theatrical Connections between Dion Boucicault, Sean O’Casey, and Lorraine Hansberry,” the lecture examined under-appreciated cross-currents in 19th and 20th-century Irish and African-American theatre.

Irish Studies programming will return with the annual Mary Power Lecture and the inaugural Irish Studies Visiting Scholar Residency in April 2023, featuring Fiona Fitzsimons, founder and Director of Eneclann, Ireland’s leading provider of history, genealogy, and heritage services. Dates will be announced on the English department website, the Irish Studies website, and on the UNM Irish Studies Facebook and Instagram pages
