Lecturer Appointed to Editorial Board of SAIL

In Spring 2020, Dr. Julianne Newmark, of the Rhetoric and Writing Program, was appointed to the Editorial Board of the journal Studies in American Indian Literatures (SAIL).  To the Board, she brings her expertise in early-twentieth-century Native American activist writing, with a particular focus on indigenous rhetorics as evidenced in writings related to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.  Given that she has published on the bureaucratic, autobiographical, and activist writings of a number of members of the Society of American Indians (SAI), Newmark will bring this focus — and its inflections beyond the boundaries of “literary studies” as typically conceived — to her work in many capacities as a member of the Board.  She is very excited to join a dedicated and esteemed group of Indigenous Studies scholars who constitute the Board and is honored to serve among them.
