Joseph Badal, author and UNM alumnus, has generously donated funds to provide the Joseph Badal Scholarships in Creative Writing. The graduate winner is MFA Student of Fiction, Jane Kalu, and the undergraduate winner is Beth Brader.
Elizabeth Brader has also been selected by UNM’s National & International Scholarships and Fellowships office to submit national applications for the Rhodes and Marshall scholarships. After a nearly three month pre-application and interview process, Brader is one of only two students to win the nomination this year, and as such are the only students from UNM eligible for these awards for the 2019-2020 academic year. Brader will submit her national application in the hopes of being invited for the finalist interviews, which typically take place in November.
