Recently graduated Ph.D. student and current ASU faculty member, Dr. Sunnie Clahchischiligi, Director of Technical and Professional Communication, Dr. Julianne Newmark, and former UNM faculty member and current Hofstra University Associate Professor, Dr. Joseph Bartolotta have been awarded the 2025 Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) Technical and Scientific Communication Award in the category of Best Article Reporting Historical Research or Textual Studies in Technical and Scientific Communication for their co-authored book chapter, “This Is a Viral Story about Viral Stories: Image and Graphical Power in COVID Communication in the Navajo Nation,” published in Global Rhetorics of Science, SUNY Press, 2023. This award from CCCC will be celebrated at a ceremony in April at the national conference in Baltimore. Dr. Clahchischiligi was the chapter’s lead author and the work fused her award-winning journalistic talent with her skill as a scholar of visual rhetoric in the Rhetoric and Writing field.
