Rudy Carrillo, an MA student in American Literary Studies, attended the University of Dayton Department of English’s virtual conference, “Metal and Change.” Carrillo presented his research into Rush’s seminal metal song-cycle, 2112, discussing the work as a revolutionary text that affected the politics and actions of American and Canadian youth in the late 1970s. Carrillo is the former news and music editor at Weekly Alibi, a storyed Albuquerque alt-weekly published between 1992 and 2020.
