ALS PhD Student Receives Award

Brandy Reeves, a PhD Candidate in American Literary Studies, has received the Center for Regional Studies (CRS) Graduate Student Fellowships and the Glenda Lewis Critical Race Award to help facilitate her dissertation research. The CRS fellowships are awarded to graduate students for project-based research that support degree completion and the student’s graduation timetable. This is the second year Brandy has received this award. The Glenda Lewis Critical Race Award supports graduate students whose research is related to critical race scholarship. Brandy specializes in twentieth and twenty-first century American literature, multiethnic American literature, and texts that examine motherhood from the perspective of women of color. Her dissertation will examine the structural and institutional racialization of motherhood and its impact on women of color in the regional Southwest and beyond.
