Associate Professor Publishes Article in Writing Studies Journal

Associate Professor of Rhetoric and Writing, Bethany Davila’s article, “White Language Supremacy in Course Descriptions,” was published in the June 2022 issue of College Composition and Communication. The article argues that course descriptions for required writing courses may perpetuate white language supremacy by regularly using specific terms (such as “basic” and “grammar”) and policing racialized student populations for written standardness more so than white student populations.
