Regents’ Professor Receives Wertheim Research Award

Regents’ Professor of Creative Writing, Diane Thiel is the recipient of the Wertheim Research Award, an award that is given to senior faculty for noteworthy contributions to the English Department and UNM at large. In 2019, Professor Thiel published a number of poems, had poems set to music by composer Dale Trumbore, had nine poems, lectures, and essays featured online, and had another five poems reprinted in anthologies. She also finished a new poetry collection, Questions from Outer Space, that is forthcoming this year, and all of its 67 poems already appeared in prestigious journals. Additionally, Professor Thiel gave seven talks and presentations in 2019 and worked on ecological topics and translations, and the drafts of and materials related to her first three books were archived at Stanford University.
