ALS PhD Student Contributes to Animal Studies Collection

Lauren Perry, American Literary Studies Ph.D. candidate who recently graduated in May 2021, contributed to a published collection from Springer Nature titled, “Posthumanist Perspectives on Literary and Cultural Animals.” The collection, edited by Dr. Krishanu Maiti, details various, important examinations of literary animals using a posthumanist lens. Perry’s chapter, titled, “The Animal Survives: Sarah Orne Jewett’s “A White Heron” Intervenes as Survivor of the Industrialized World,” is part of the “Interspecies Relationalities” section of the collection and is an excerpt from the first chapter of her dissertation.
