On January 10, 2020, Blue Mesa Review published its 40th Issue. The magazine, founded by Rudolfo Anaya in 1989, features first and second place fiction, poetry, and nonfiction work from the Blue Mesa Review 2019 Summer Contest, selected by authors Lesley Nneka Arimah (Fiction), Jake Skeets (Poetry), and Francisco Cant├║ (Nonfiction). This issue also features a special interview with Rudolfo Anaya.

The current editorial board consists of Tori Cárdenas (Editor in Chief), Ari McGuirk (Managing Editor), Mitch Marty (Associate Editor), Michelle Gurule (Nonfiction Editor), Mario Montoya (Fiction Editor), Seth Garcia (Co-Poetry Editor), and Daren Donate (Co-Poetry Editor), and is advised by Mark Sundeen.
