John Knapp, visiting scholar and longtime adjunct in the department, recently published Fiddled out of Reason, one of the very few scholarly books focused on eighteenth-century hymnic poetry, and the verse of Joseph Addison (most famous for founding the early periodical, The Spectator) in particular.
The book is now available in the Zimmerman stacks. A full description of the book can be seen here, and much of it is scannable on Google Books.
