Jake Skeets has won a very prestigious literary award, 92Y’s Discovery/Boston Review Contest. This award is often the first step in launching a successful career in poetry, and two other highly successful poets from our department have also won this award – Natalie Scenters-Zapico and Erika Sanchez.
Jake Skeets is Black Streaked Wood, born for Water’s Edge. He is Diné from the Navajo Nation. His work has appeared in Word Riot, Connotation Press, The Blueshift Journal, and elsewhere. He is the founding editor of Cloudthroat, a journal dedicated to Native, First Nations, and Indigenous writing and art.
