Assistant Professors Cristyn Elder and Todd Ruecker, as well as Gradute Student Kit Colter from the English Department showed support for undocumented students at a peaceful demonstration organized by the New Mexico Dream Team directly outside of the Downtown offices for Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich. The demonstration aimed to call on the Senators to fight for the Dream Act in Congress by presenting legislation supporting the Dream Act. Roughly 50 people, many of them educators, marched in the intersection holding signs that read, “Don’t Deport Our Students” and “Congress Must Act Now!” Professor Elder is interviewed in this news clip by Telemundo.
