Phillip Holcomb, an alumnus of the UNM English Department, along with his wife Kathleen, recently donated a complete set of The Works of John Ruskin to UNM’s Center for Southwest Research & Special Collections. This rare and valuable set consists of 39 volumes that were published from 1903 – 1912. The Holcombs, retired English Professors from Angelo State University in Texas, wanted the collection to come to UNM and for it to be accessible to students, faculty and researchers. They gave the donation in honor of the faculty members who inspired and influenced their careers: Katherine Simons, George Arms, Joseph M. Kuntz, Franklin M. Dickey, Edith Buchanan, Willis Dana Jacobs, Joseph B. Zavadil, Norton Crowell and Hamlin Hill. This collection will certainly be a significant addition to the University Libraries.
