Biography

Athena Gordon received her BA in English (nonfiction writing emphasis) and Sociology from Pacific Lutheran University, and Master of Education in Reading and Literacy from Eastern New Mexico University. She participated in the Teach for America New Mexico 2018 corps and taught English Language Arts in charter schools in Albuquerque for several years.

Currently, Athena is pursuing a MA in Rhetoric and Writing, while serving as a Senior Academic Advisor in the Honors College and University College. Athena’s current research interests include writing across the curriculum, basic writing pedagogies, community literacy and composition, critical pedagogy, grant writing, and rhetoric of public education.
