Their article, entitled, &#8220;Welcoming Linguistic Diversity and Saying Adios to Remediation: Stretch and Studio Composition at a Hispanic-Serving Institution&#8221; describes the stretch\/studio program recently implemented in English here at UNM; the program for which Davila and Elder received the 2016 Innovation Award from the Council on Basic Writing. \u00a0From their abstract:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The stretch\/studio program responds both to an institutional move away from remediation and to the large number of linguistically and racially diverse students at our institution. In this profile, [Davila and Elder] describe the new program\u2019s curriculum, which focuses on and values the linguistic and cultural diversity of our students. [They] also share the initial results of [their] assessment of the program and [their] plans for the future.
