This lectureship was created in 1989 by Jerry and Mary Carole May Wertheim and James E. and Georgia Phillips Snead. Wertheim and Snead are UNM alumni and currently attorneys in Santa Fe. The lectureship \u00a0recognizes significant scholarly activity by a faculty member within\u00a0the English Department that contributes furthermore to\u00a0UNM at large. \u00a0It carries a $3,000 stipend that can be used for\u00a0travel, purchasing research materials, or extra compensation.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Writing, Todd Ruecker was awarded the Telfair Hendon Keleher Award for the publication of his book<i>Transiciones: Pathways of Latinas and Latinos Writing in High School and College<\/i>\u00a0(Utah State University Press) as well as additional articles. This Faculty\u00a0Award is given annually to a junior Professors who demonstrates a strong commitment to teaching, as well as making noteworthy contributions to the English Department.
