This year, the conference\u00a0was entitled &#8220;The Profane West.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Julianne Newmark, Professor of Rhetoric and Writing, presented, &#8220;Documentation of\/and Political Agency: The Texts and Contexts of Gertrude and Raymond Bonnin\u2019s Educational Activism&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Doctoral graduate student, Laurie Lowrance presented, &#8220;Resistance to Containment and Conquest in Sarah Winnemucca\u2019s Life among the Piutes and Mar\u00eda Amparo Ruiz de Burton\u2019s Who Would Have Thought It?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Julie Williams, a PhD candidate, presented, &#8220;&#8216;Radiating Loveliness&#8217;: Atomic Tourism, Beauty Queens, and the Cold War West&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Doctoral candidate, Amy Gore presented, &#8220;Pretty Shield\u2019s Thumbprint: Body Politics in Paratextual Territory&#8221;.
