The ITD conference is annually organized by the Green University of Bangladesh. This year\u2019s theme was&nbsp;<em>The World at a Crossroads: Issues in Arts and Social Sciences,<\/em>&nbsp;where scholars from 21 different countries across the globe participated both virtually and in-person.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"219\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/english.unm.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/american-indian-stories-saiyara-fairooz.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3799\" srcset=\"https:\/\/english.unm.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/american-indian-stories-saiyara-fairooz.jpeg 219w, https:\/\/english.unm.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/american-indian-stories-saiyara-fairooz-188x300.jpeg 188w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 219px) 100vw, 219px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Saiyara&#8217;s paper<em>&nbsp;<\/em>maps the coming-of-age journey of the protagonist in two select stories in Zitk\u00e1la-\u0160\u00e1\u2019s&nbsp;<em>American Indian Stories<\/em> . The focus of her talk was to help the audience rethink their readings of Native American history in the US, revisit the mythology of Indigenous disappearance, as well as appreciate the brilliance of Indigenous writers beyond their struggles.
