Laurie Lowrance, who received her PhD in American Literary Studies in 2021, is started a tenure-track position at Schreiner University. Lowrance defended her dissertation, \u201cRegional Domesticities: Recalling, Rewriting, and Redefining Gender in the Southwest\u201d in Spring 2021 under the directorship of American Literary Studies Professor, Jesse Alem\u00e1n. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lowrance\u2019s work centers on women\u2019s multi-ethnic literatures of the Southwest, and more specifically on systems of domesticity that appear in women\u2019s written and visual works documenting the unique region. Most recently, she published an article on nineteenth-century Mexican American woman writer Mar\u00eda Amparo Ruiz de Burton in Western American Literature<\/em> (vol. 52, no. 4), and her other scholarship considers the work of early twentieth-century Tejana writers Adina De Zavala and Jovita Gonz\u00e1lez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Before joining Schreiner, Lowrance took a faculty position at Cisco College in Spring 2021. Lowrance\u2019s newest position as a tenure-track Assistant Professor includes teaching both Freshman and upper-level writing and literature classes ranging from Composition I & II to Advanced Topics in American literature. She is well-prepared for such a task, having taught our own Freshman Composition I & II courses before moving into introductory-level courses on American Literature I & II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Founded in 1923, Schreiner University is a Hispanic-serving private<\/a> university in Kerrville, Texas<\/a>, a diverse and fiercely independent university offering over 40 four-year undergraduate programs, a Master\u2019s of Education and MBA.
