{"id":3135,"date":"2022-12-09T13:22:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-09T20:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.unm.edu\/blog\/?p=3135"},"modified":"2022-12-19T12:24:52","modified_gmt":"2022-12-19T19:24:52","slug":"als-alumna-publishes-and-presents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.unm.edu\/blog\/blog\/2022\/12\/09\/als-alumna-publishes-and-presents\/","title":{"rendered":"ALS Alumna Publishes and Presents"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Alumna who graduated in 2021 with her PhD in American Literary Studies, Lauren Perry-Rummel recently published a chapter in a collection titled,\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.taylorfrancis.com\/books\/edit\/10.4324\/9781003221807\/ecopedagogies-ellen-bayer-judson-byrd-finley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ecopedagogies: Practical Approaches to Experiential Learning<\/a><\/em>, edited by Ellen Bayer and Judson Byrd Finley (Routledge 2022). Her chapter, &#8220;Teaching Animal Texts: American Environmental Literature&#8217;s Ability to Connect Students to Animals and Wildlife through Observation&#8221; focuses on place-based learning through literary analysis and animal observation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perry-Rummel additionally presented at the Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association on a panel organized by Shelli Rottschafer (Ph.D., UNM 2005) entitled, &#8220;Human Ties: Memoir, Language, and Identity, Subcategory Panel of the Association of the Study of Literature and the Environment (ASLE)&#8221;. Perry-Rummel&#8217;s work focused on Terry Tempest William&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Refuge\u00a0<\/em>(1991), while Rottshafer&#8217;s presentation focused on Querencia in Kali Fajardo-Anstine&#8217;s Sabrina y Corina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drs.
