Zoom link: <a href=\"https:\/\/unm.zoom.us\/j\/94510649478\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/unm.zoom.us\/j\/94510649478<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assistant Professor of Medieval Studies and British &amp; Irish Literary Studies, Nahir Ota\u00f1o Gracia  will be presenting, \u201cConstructing Whiteness in Medieval Arthuriana.\u201d In this conversation Dr. Ota\u00f1o Gracia will be discussing her book project, <em>The other Faces of Arthur: Medieval Arthurian Texts From the Global North Atlantic<\/em>, specifically how she shows the ways that Global North Atlantic Arthurian texts written in Latin, Spanish, Catalan, Welsh, and Old Norse Icelandic construct whiteness and define<br>themselves through the construction of medieval &#8220;national&#8221; borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assistant Professor of British &amp; Irish Literary Studies, Belinda Deneen Wallace will present, \u201cAfricanFuturism &amp; AfroNauts.\u201d Through an exploration of the short film \u201cAfronauts,\u201d Dr. Wallace will lead a conversation on the question, \u201cwhat\u2019s the unit of your imagination when<br>envisioning the future?\u201d Vital to this discussion and central to her second book project is the role of Africa\u2014its people, cultures, and histories.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Join us for a roundtable discussion titled, &#8220;Globalizing Race from Past and Future: A Roundtable&#8221; via Zoom on Monday, November 22nd at 12 pm.
