{"id":2721,"date":"2021-10-01T10:36:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-01T16:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.unm.edu\/blog\/?p=2721"},"modified":"2021-10-08T13:11:50","modified_gmt":"2021-10-08T19:11:50","slug":"graduate-student-wins-fellowship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.unm.edu\/blog\/blog\/2021\/10\/01\/graduate-student-wins-fellowship\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduate Student Wins Fellowship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sunnie Clahchischiligi, PhD Student in Rhetoric &amp; Writing, is the winner of this year\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pointpark.edu\/academics\/schools\/schoolofcommunication\/centerformediainnovation\/doris-odonnell-fellowship\/index\" target=\"_blank\">Doris O\u2019Donnell Innovations in Investigative Journalism Fellowship<\/a> from the Center for Media Innovation at Point Park University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clahchischiligi, a contributing writer for <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/searchlightnm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Searchlight New Mexico<\/a><\/strong>, proposed a project which will investigate how potentially thousands of students on the Navajo Nation went missing during the pandemic and expose a myriad of educational failures, which run far deeper than the public knows. Clahchischiligi will gather exclusive, unearthed data to document the negligence of schools across the Navajo Nation and beyond, reported via a series of stories, enriched by photos, data-visuals, graphics and videos.
