We are seeking submissions for the annual Karen McKinnon Poetry Contest!
1st Place Prize is $1000<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2nd Place: $500<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3rd Place: $250<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To be eligible, students must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Be enrolled at least part-time at UNM at the undergraduate level<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Have and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Complete a thank you letter to the donor\u2019s family upon notification of the award<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deadline for Submissions: February 28, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Please attach two pdf files. One file should contain the poem with no identifying information. Student\u2019s name should not appear on the page(s) with the poem. The second file should consist of a cover page containing name, address, phone, email, poem title. Submissions may be poems in form or free verse. Only one submission is allowed per student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Poems should be 1 or 2 pages, no longer than 2 pages. (If necessary, two columns on a page would be acceptable.) Poems submitted should be unpublished and should not have won or placed in any other competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The winners will be announced in early April (National Poetry Month) and the awards will be featured at an event in April and\/or on the English Dept. webpage.
