Michelle&#8217;s essay, &#8220;Exit Route,&#8221; was selected by contest judge T Kira Madden, whose memoir\u00a0<em>Long Live the Tribe of Fatherless Girls<\/em>\u00a0has been influential to Michelle. &#8220;Exit Route,&#8221; which is an excerpt from Michelle&#8217;s dissertation, is scheduled to be published in\u00a0<em>StoryQuarterly<\/em>\u00a0issue 53 in 2021.
