This award is often the first step in launching a successful career in poetry, and two other highly successful poets from our department have also won this award\u00a0 &#8211; Natalie Scenters-Zapico and Erika Sanchez.<\/p>\n<p>Jake Skeets is Black Streaked Wood, born for Water\u2019s Edge. He is Din\u00e9 from the Navajo Nation. His work has appeared in\u00a0<em>Word Riot<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Connotation Press<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Blueshift Journal<\/em>, and elsewhere.
