John Knapp, visiting scholar and Part Time Instructor in the English department since 2007, has published an article in the Oxford journal, Notes & Queries. Relying on new archival research, “Thomas Gray’s ‘Adversity’ and Mesomedes’ ‘Nemesis'” explores the hitherto unacknowledged connection between Gray’s famous 1742 poem and a Greek poem from the second century CE.
