Fiction Editor, Blue Mesa Review
Mario Montoya is a Chicano essayist, poet and emcee, currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Nonfiction at UNM. He's also the Fiction Editor for the literary magazine Blue Mesa Review. Mario is a proud resident of Burque (Albuquerque, NM) where he was born and raised. His work has appeared in various books, anthologies, journals and websites. Recently, he received the Compassionate Chronicle Award, a $1000 grant from WordsforCharity.org. And in 2017, he was given a spot in the book All at Once I Saw My Colors, an anthology pressed by Z Publishing House. When he’s not teaching English or writing, he’s making Hip Hop music or cooking tortillas and green chile stew. Or, he’s watching the Raiders lose while playing slow, sad jazz on his record player. Either way, he should be grading.
