Stéfan Koekemoer is an MA student in Medieval Studies at the University of New Mexico. He received his BA in English and Medieval Studies from Rutgers University. His current studies focus on locating and analysing the remnants of pre-Christian, Indo-European beliefs that have survived in Old English texts, while comparing these to evidence from Old Norse, Celtic, Baltic, Vedic, and Puranic texts. Stéfan’s research utilizes not only text but documented artifacts and artworks as well. In his teaching, Stéfan strives to introduce students to a diverse array of beliefs and world views, encouraging them to consider these positions with an open mind. Accessibility in the classroom is another goal of his teaching and, to this end, Stéfan frequently incorporates multimodality in order to meet a wider range of learning styles and needs.
