Earlier this year, Presidential Teaching Fellow Dr. Jesse Alemán delivered an impelling keynote address at the Center for Teaching and Learning’s “Success in the Classroom Conference” focusing on Teaching Social Justice. Written and delivered in the wake of the 2018 presidential inauguration as well as free-speech debates on campus, the keynote address, entitled, “Pedagogy of the Pissed”: Teaching Social Justice in a New Era of Anger Mismanagement challenged instructors, administrators, and the university to engage actively and critically social justice issues under the banner of academic freedom and freedom of speech.
