Outstanding Core Writing Instructor 2016-2017

Emma Mincks was awarded by the English Graduate Student Association as Outstanding Core Writing Instructor 2016-2017 in her first year teaching at UNM since she graduated with her MA in 2011. Her teaching focuses on positionality and creative expression in an equity-based collaborative space. The work her students presented (pictured) at the 2017 Celebration of Student Writing was a highly impactful way to bring to life Daisy Hernandez’s memoir, A Cup of Water Under My Bed, as well as incite dialogue around the themes her students were exploring. Many even got a chance to meet Daisy Hernandez, and some were able to share a meal with her! Mincks is thrilled to be back in the department, and is incredibly proud of her students’ work.
