Sponsored by the Faculty Senate Teaching Enhancement Committee and the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), Teaching Awards recognize UNM’s outstanding educators. Each year the Faculty Senate Teaching Enhancement Committee selects recipients for a variety of campus-wide teaching awards. Three from the English Department received awards for their remarkable teaching.

Ana June, an MFA student of creative nonfiction, and Rachel Gift, an MA student of Rhetoric and Writing, both received Susan Deese-Roberts Outstanding Teaching Assistants.

Bernadine Hernández, a new member of our American Literary Studies Faculty, was named 2016-2017 Outstanding New Teacher of the Year.

Congratulations to all! We are proud and pleased to have such excellence within our Department.
