Professor, Associate Chair for Core Writing, Director of Rhetoric and Writing
Chuck Paine is the Associate Chair for Core Writing and the Director of Rhetoric and Writing. He teaches courses across the rhet-comp curriculum, including first-year-writing, the history of rhetoric, rhetorical and composition theory, the teaching-writing practicum, and others. He's the co-author of Writing Today (2nd edition), a genre-based composition textbook, the author of The Resistant Writer, a history of American composition, and the co-editor of Teaching with Student Texts. Currently he's working with an exciting group of new faculty to create innovative new programs in the first-year-writing curriculum and the Rhetoric and Writing graduate program.
